TOP PERFORMERS THROUGHOUT BIG SHOTS VIRGINIA BEACH MAY MADNESS

May 14-15, 2022 - Virginia Beach Sports Center

Cam Love, Shots Up (6’3 2024 Fairfax HS, VA)

Does a great job moving without the ball, gets to his spots catching the ball shot ready and hits the middle jumper with very good consistency, range extends beyond the arc.  Sound shot mechanics, shot preparation and a solid frame.  Finished through contact and attacked the basket with purpose.  Active, scrappy defender.   Got to traps quickly, good anticipation in passing lanes, solid on ball.  Sound footwork!  Cam scored 17 points in championship game for Shots Up and averaged over 21PPG for the weekend! Cam also plays football at Fairfax High School.

Anthony Isaac, Castle Athletics NY Adidas (6’4 2023 Thomas Jefferson HS, NY).

Anthony showed off his versatility as a long and strong paint presence and capable perimeter defender while also playing off the ball offensively and even serving as a secondary ball handler.  Anthony ran the floor well and flashed some pretty good playmaking skills and agility as he gracefully negotiated his sturdy frame up and down the floor with pretty good quickness and even some shiftiness.  His handle is reliable, his vision and passing skills evidence of his exciting potential.  He has a fluid stroke and hit the spot up jumper at a good rate, showed some range.   His 10 points earned him championship game MVP honors.

Sha’ron Young, Easy Street Family (UA Rise) (6’1 2024 Morgantown HS, WV)

A quick and agile playmaker whose quick change of direction and powerful burst makes it difficult to stay in front of him.  A savvy and intelligent facilitator has uncanny vision and high level passing skills to match.  He can knock down the jumper at a very good rate from all levels and when you combine that with his great quickness it makes for a difficult defensive assignment.  Shot the ball  with very good consistency out of various situations, off the dribble, off ball screens, etc.  Scores over length with the floater and creates separation nicely allowing him to get his shot off over taller defenders on the perimeter.  Defends at a high level, tenacious!  Sha’Ron scored 30 points in the 16U Slam Championship Game in a 79-68 win over DH2B.  Radford and Drexel and West Virginia Tech have offered Young, the top ranked point guard in West Virginia’s 2024 class by Big Shots.

Xavier Buchanan, Shots Up (6’2 2024 St Charles HS, MD)

Xavier plays with a great motor, nonstop on both ends of the floor!  Good mix of strength and quickness, body control as a slasher and finisher.  Solid passer and decision maker and does a great job distributing the basketball and mixing in his ability to score in big numbers both attacking off the bounce and when ending the drive and burying the pull up jumper at a very good percentage.  Always on the attack offensively while playing ball hawkish defense.  A rebounding threat because he is so active, you have to keep a body on him or he can hurt you in every phase!

Zoe Holman, Kings Olympus Unlimited Avent  (6’0 2022 Woodrow Wilson HS, NJ)

Zoe led Woodrow Wilson High School to a NJ Group 3 State Championship averaging over 15 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals per game!  Zoe not only plays with great explosiveness but has a competitive will that few can match.  He flat out gets after you defending with in your face ball pressure baseline to baseline and doesn’t get beat.  He is instinctive and quick in passing lanes and also flies in seemingly out of nowhere for the occasional rebound.  He is a game changing defensive presence and a jitterbug type guard whose quick stops and starts and change of direction moves make him difficult to stay in front of on the offensive end.  He is not only quick but has another gear that makes him a blur as he attacks the rim.  His has a great touch around the rim and is a threat not only as a scorer on the move but is a talented passer and intelligent decision maker.  He talks and displays solid leadership qualities, a true coach on the floor!

Zyon McGlone, Team Loaded 757 (5’6 2025 Kings Fork HS, VA)

Zyon is quick on quick with a motor that never stops!  He not only brought quickness as a playmaker but his sturdy frame and toughness were evident as he impacts every phase of the game.  A tenacious defender always around the basketball, physical and quick footed on ball.  He plays of hesitations nicely and shows a powerful burst attacking space.  Attacks the rim with fearlessness and determination.  Dangerous in the open floor with his end to end speed and decision making. Does a good job mixing in scoring and distributing the basketball but seemingly gets into the paint whenever he wants.

Maurice Crump, YSU Elite 17U (5’9 2023 Burlington Township HS, NJ)

Maurice (Mo) is an energy giver!  A high motor guard who gets after it on both ends of the floor from opening tap to final buzzer!  He can flat out shoot it as his 5 three pointer, 20 point effort against Virginia Beach Select on Sunday afternoon confirmed.  Not only a threat to knock down the jumper from anywhere on the floor, Mo can beat you off the bounce with good regularity and score at the rim.  He made solid decisions as a passer and has a very good handle.  Mo can impact the game on both ends of the floor, a strong on ball defender while showing instincts and quickness off the ball.  Mo had several double figure scoring games and saw his stock skyrocket after an impressive winter leading Burlington Township to the South Jersey Group 3 finals.

Chris Fields, VA Bulls (6’6 2023 Petersburg HS, VA)

The VHSL Group 3 Player of the Year was dazzling for Virginia Bulls scoring 27 points in one game and 31 in another and was consistent all weekend long.  He scored in every way imaginable including three pointers and impressively enough some shifty drives to the rim in a manner you don’t see too many 215 pound players do.  Chris not only showed some agility on the drive but he bullied defenders and pounded his way to the rim time and time again.  When not running the offense he was posting inside and scoring with drop steps or pivots and facing up and hitting short jumpers.  Chris as usual was a dominant figure on the glass on both ends of the floor.

Jeremiah Johnson, VA Bulls (6’2 2024 Petersburg HS, VA)

Jeremiah is as impressive a sophomore as any I have seen in Virginia this season both physically and fundamentally. He is powerful and quick and highly competitive.  Has great court awareness and a confidence you rarely see in underclassmen and he just wears you down with defensive pressure and an aggressive offensive mindset.  Jeremiah is a pesky defender, quick footed and powerful with a sturdy frame.  A powerful leaper with impressive bounce!  Solid ball handler, uses quick crossovers and an explosive first step turns into a blur as he drives to the rim and turns the corner leaving defenders in his wake.  He can also hit the jumper and has three point range.  A very good scorer he also does a solid job running the offense, making sound decisions and rarely turns the ball over.  I’m expecting a breakout summer for Jeremiah and by next season we should see his stock skyrocket!

Tykie Jones, River City Reign (6’2 2025 Churchill Academy, VA)

Tykie oozes with potential!  His length catches your eye as he has long legs and several more inches of vertical growth ahead.  But it’s his silky smooth playing style, like a natural and his feel that keeps your attention.  He’s a coach on the floor and on the bench he cheers on teammates with encouragement and is in constant conversation with his coaches, analyzing and sharing information.  He can handle and make plays for himself and for teammates.  He can shoot it, near automatic on spot ups and scores off dribble pull-ups at a high percentage.  He attacks the basket with long graceful strides slicing by defenders and displaying a nice touch for finishes over length with the floater and off the glass.  He was one of the most exciting players I watched as his upside is limitless.  Tykie has a 3.7GPA!

Darius Bailem, Carolina HoopSters (6’1 2024 Fort Dorchester HS, SC)

Darius is a tremendous athlete who combines quickness and power as a ball handler.  Can bully many defenders but also has good quickness allowing him to get to the rim often.  He hit dribble pull-ups showing comfort and fluidity shooting off the bounce and scored with runners in the lane.  In your face defender with quick feet and sound footwork.  His upper body strength and ability to play both physical and quick on both ends match solid skills.  Darius is a two sport star at Fort Dorchester HS in North Charleston SC where he also plays wide receiver on the football team.  He carries a 3.46GPA!

Antwan Bridgett, Kings Olympus Birch (5’10 2023 Trenton Central HS, NJ)

Antwan is a solid point guard whose impeccable vision and uncanny ability to find cutters and thread the needle with pinpoint passes even when looking off defenders is impressive.  Good quickness and ability to break down defenders and get dribble penetration where he looks to find the best shot for his team.  Impresses with his decision making and unselfish play.  He scores off the bounce nicely using quickness and ability to absorb contact and get his shot off.   A savvy playmaker makes productive use of the dribble, can score it and impact offensive production as a passer.

Ameil Braswell, NC Wildcats Elite (6’2 2025 Hillside HS, Durham NC)

You can tell he is a star running back in high school as he displays an impressive combination of quickness and strength.  Ameil does a great job attacking angles, generates a nice burst able to beat a defender off a dribble move or bully his man.  Likes to use his powerful, 197 pound frame to engage defenders and then use contact to create separation for the jumper.  Those same physical assets allow him to impact games on the defensive end as he guards multiple positions effectively and is a disruptive on ball defender using solid footwork, active hands and the strength to stifle dribble penetration.

Cameron Sampson, Circle Sports (6’1 2024 Clover Hill HS, VA)

Cam shot the ball well all weekend long and demonstrated sound shot mechanics and footwork in his shot preparation.  He can drive hard to the rim, brake and bury the pull-up at a good rate and took advantage of his length attacking space using long strides and the ability to generate a nice burst.  He is a smart and crafty playmaker, solid handle.  Cam is a multi sport participant at Clover Hill High School in Midlothian VA and carries a 3.4GPA!

DeMonte Minter, Team Assault (6’2 2024 Maury HS)

DeMonte has a long, lean and powerful frame and plays with a chip on his shoulder.  He sets the tone with his energy and fearlessness and impacts all areas of the game.  He has the quickness to defend guards on the perimeter and strength, toughness and tenacity to battle in the paint with effective results.  A slasher type with the ball in his hands, he is quick off the bounce and attacks the basket with aggression, very good finisher.  Off the ball he made great reads and stays in motion to get open both on the perimeter or using cuts toward the rim where he has great hands and finishing ability in addition to catch and shoot capability.

Elliott Kessler, VABA Bruins (6’7 2024 Western Albemarle HS)

Elliott is an athletic big man who flashed some good skills and demonstrates the ability to score both facing the rim and with his back to the basket.  Does a good job sealing his man and making himself eligible to receive the ball in the paint.  Scores over his left shoulder with good consistency and also showed some vision as a passer out of the post.  He can hit the spot up and has range to the three point line, moved off the ball nicely.  Very good pick and pop and pick and roll guy.  Ran the floor nicely and has good mobility and timing for rebounds and stick backs in addition to blocking shots.  Has a frame capable of carrying much more weight and when he fills out will be even more of an impact presence.  He hit his free throws and is a reliable decision maker and finisher.

Kyree Demeil, Team Loaded 757 (6’2 2026 Deep Creek HS, VA)

Kyree has a great motor and seemingly gets his hands on every rebound on both ends of the floor.  He is super athletic, has good length and great speed running the floor and plays with tenacity.  Very good leaper, great timing, quick off his feet.  Showed a great touch around the rim and although very raw he has a nose for the ball and is an opportunistic scorer in that he gets a lot of points by outworking people;  gets stick backs, rebounds and goes coast to coast or simply outruns defenders for easy transition layups.

Moussa Samake, Castle Athletics (6’7 2024 Thomas Jefferson HS, NY)

An athletic, rangy lefthander, Moussa does a great job scoring in and around the paint using his length, positioning and a nice touch.  He knows how to play and has the length and the high release to shoot over defenders and the ability to create his shot with the dribble.  Quick and decisive making cuts and flashing to areas to get open and then makes quick moves to the rim.  He can flash to the high post front pivot and score with the jumper or a shot fake and quick move off the bounce for a finish at the rim.  Has a smooth, effortless stroke and is near automatic from the foul line with the jumper and pretty much from all angles inside 15 feet.   Sound footwork, great touch, nice array of moves inside and shot variety.  Holds a Manhattan offer!

Garrison Kisner, WV Gold (6’7 2023 University HS, WV)

Garrison provides an inside out threat able to use his obvious length. Very good bounce and sturdy frame inside on both ends of the floor and also play along the perimeter not only as a scorer out of the guard/small forward slot but also serve as a secondary ball handler.  He is an excellent shooter from all levels.  Moves off the ball nicely, has great hands and finishing skills.  A lob target.  Garrison can finish above the rim or end the drive with pull up jumpers and shoot off the spin move easily shooting over most defenders.  His stroke is smooth and mechanically sound.  Skilled on both ends of the floor, sufficient quickness and athleticism.  Garrison carries a 4.0 GPA.

Tyrone Fowlkes (6’6 2022 Nottoway HS, VA)

Tyrice is a space eater in the paint, long, active and quite mobile.  He is able to use his strength inside to seal his man where he does a great job catching entry passes and making quick and strong finishes.  He can also hit the short jumper at a good clip.  Tyrice has excellent timing for blocked shots and rebounds and he is strong enough to push opposing bigs off their spots, quick enough to sneak around and pick off an errant entry.  He runs the floor especially well and his strong frame and agility allows him to stay on balance and maintain good body control absorbing contact against opposing bigs.

Jahaan Green, Kings Unlimited (6’3 2024 Kingsway Regional HS, NJ)

An exciting playmaker who can change a game on both ends of the floor.  He is a long and harassing defender who can tie you up as an opposing ball handler or, with great quickness and seemingly out of nowhere race in and steal a dribble or block a shot. Anticipates nicely and has the cat-like quickness to snatch the ball away from you at any time.  Offensively his is an unselfish playmaker with good vision and very good passing skills.  I like his use of the dump off pass and he can put a lot of velocity on a half court pass and fire a strike to a cutter.  He is dangerous off the bounce attacking with long strides and quickness.  He takes advantage of his wiry frame to navigate his way through the lane in and elusive manner using spin moves and shiftiness to slip by you or go over the top and finish.  He has the ability to hang in the air longer than his defender to get his shot off and has a nice touch.  He can break you down with crossovers and is a threat to knock down the jumper from anywhere on the floor.  Uses the step back nicely and displays repeatable shot mechanics.

Tyler Suber, Team Unbreakable (5’10 2024 Kecoughtan HS, VA)

One of the more exciting guards in the Hampton Roads area in the 2024 class, Tyler is a quick and scrappy guard who has great quickness and an endless motor.  He’s a shifty guard with a quick handle who can spread the floor with the jumper and attached a hard closeout with a blow by burst and score at the rim with a creative touch.  I like his use of the shot fake and his ability to shoot of dribble pull-ups.  Very comfortable and consistent shooting off relocations roves but always ready and able to see an opening and burst through a seam.  Scrappy, bothersome defender who just keeps coming at you!

Kendrell Brooks, NC Wildcats ( 6’3 2022 The Burlington School, NC)

Kendrell has nice length and uses that when attacking the rim where he shows the ability to absorb contact and finish and also some savvy, creativity and touch to evade a defender and finish off the glass.  He can score from all levels and plays off the threat of his very good jumper to extend defenders and blow by them with quick crossovers and rangy strides.  He can shoot off a dribble move and uses the step back jumper to create separation. Very good defensively and is able to guard multiple positions.

Brandon Brimmage, FBCG Dynamic Disciples (5’10 2023 Westlake HS, MD)

Brandon is super quick and so dangerous in the open floor and in transition with blazing speed with the dribble, vision and passing skills and the ability to finish in traffic.  He has very good ball handling skills and seemingly blows by defenders whenever he wants!  Brandon also has the ability to slam on the brakes and elevate under control into the jumper while defenders often stagger backward as a result of his great quickness.  Abrupt stops, explosive starts, body control and the ability to score from various angles using the glass.

Oreoluwapo Odutayo, Team Fredette (6’6 2024 Christian Brothers, NY)

Ore can grab a rebound and push the dribble end to end with very good quickness, crafty ball handling and dunk on you at the other end!  A long, speedy ball handler is able to keep his dribble low in traffic, uses crossovers and space eating strides and plays above the rim.  Defended the post on this particular weekend but Ore has the quickness and agility to defend other quick players.  He showed some good footwork and lateral mobility when defending in space and his long wingspan helps make him affective as a perimeter defender.  Bryant and Albany have offered.

Zycheus Dobbs, ESF (UA Rise) (6’2 2024 Fairmont HS, WV)

Strong, physical guard.  A fluid athlete combining power and length and he can flat out play!  Zycheus can overpower you and take it to the rim and score or play off a hesitation or a dribble move and blow by you.  He can also hit the contested jumper and has range that extends well beyond the three point arc.  Very good on dribble pull-ups.  Zycheus hit the game winner at the buzzer allowing Fairmont High School to win the Group AAA West Virginia State Title.  He also earned Al State honors and is ranked among the top players in West Virginia by Big Shots.
