Rock Hill, SC- Big Shots Southeast Showdown was the last travel basketball event of the year for big shots and it was held at the Rock Hill Sports and Events Center. It was filled with some of the nation’s best as they competed for a chance to take home the crown. There was elite level talent and some new up and coming stars. The Southeast showdown paired with the Southeast Top 150 was a great way to close out the season.
NCA was one of the teams to beat in the 12U division from the very start of Big Shots Southeast Showdown. They kicked off the tournament by winning by over 20 plus points in both games on Saturday. This was mainly due to the dynamic duo of Josiah Brown & Karon Watlington as they led the team in scoring. It just so happens that Josiah Brown also led the entire division in scoring, averaging over 18 points per game. He was dynamic over the weekend scoring over in double figures in every game he played while also increasing his scoring game to game. His spectacular play earned him the InStat MVP Award for the entire 12U division. Brown is a super talented guard that can score it in so many ways and he has a very good handle to accompany it. He showcased why he was the top player in the 12U division over the weekend. The most impressive thing about browns performance was that in the two most challenging games in the their division he posted a 29 and 30 point performance. In the semifinal game NCA faced off against Wilmington Excel who has been one of the top 12U teams in all of Big Shots. After escaping Wilmington Excel by 10 points where brown had 29 pts, it was on to Big Shots Tri-Cities in the title game. Brown poured in 30 points in the championship game and they pulled out the tough win by 2 points.
Another Standout in the division was Kenneth Ford III of Btown Gladiators. The 5'5 PG was super dominant on the offensive end exploding for 28 points in their opener. He then followed that up with a 21 point game and ended the tournament averaging over 16 points. The 5'9 Center was unstoppable in the paint as he just overpowered every one and finished everything in the paint. He was special on both ends cleaning up the glass and altering shots. Braeden Greenup of Hearts and Soul Winners was not far behind as he averaged 15 points on the dot for the weekend. He scored in double figures in all three games that he played in and was his teams number one option on the offensive end.
