Virginia Beach, VA- Big Shots Virginia Beach Jam was another standout event. This year's event was packed with over 140 teams in the newly built Virginia Beach Sports Center.
Elijah Mitchell was dynamic for Big Shots Elite Virginia Nets in the 16U division. Mitchell led Big Shots Elite Virginia Nets to a 16U title as they defeated Charlotte Dragons 16 Bowser 64-56. Mitchell was special throughout the tournament as he had his way in every game. He was show stopping in the semifinal game when he dropped 37 in a close contest. He has a strong frame which allows him to score the ball efficiently around the rim. That is a main reason why he finished second in the division in scoring at 28.7. Mitchell is an athletic 6'5 forward who has a constant motor. He attacks the rim very well, can shoot the long ball, and is an overall match up nightmare for opposing coaches. Mitchell is in the class of 2022 and attends Fleming High School. Along with Mitchell is teammate Lawrence Cole who was one of the elite guards at the Beach Jam. Cole has been a top guard in the class of 22 at big shots all year. He finished third in the division in scoring with 22.8 PPG.
Kamari Vinson is a name that may have stood out the most at Big Shots Virginia Beach Jam. Vinson showed why he was one of the best guards at the tournament as he put on a scoring clinic, averaging more than 30 points a game. He even dropped 41 in the semifinals of the silver bracket. Kamari led the Hampton Road Rams to the 16U silver title. He has a special scoring ability and did it in multiple ways this weekend. Vinson can shoot the ball at an elite level, and has the ability to get to the rim & finish. He is a 6'3 small forward in the class of 2023 and is being over looked. Look for a breakout summer as Vinson will continue to climb the ranks.
