Philadelphia, PA- Each year many of the top teams throughout the state of Pennsylvania and the northeast region battle it out at Big Shots Philly Final. This year's event sold out with over 110 teams & was held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center.
Justin Edwards and James Johns Jr. led the way for Team Final EYBL 2023 in the 17U Orange title game as they defeated PSB Philly 57-41. Team Final EYBL 2023 showed why they are one of the nations premier teams as they cruised through the division. They put on a show and were in control in every game with the help of their two stars. Justin Edwards is the real deal, and showed exactly why he is a top 60 player in the nation. Edwards is a 6'7 forward in the class of 23' who can get it done at every level. He can score at will and is a matchup nightmare for opposing teams. This 4 star also plays on both ends, with his size and athletic ability it allows him to guard multiple positions on the floor. In addition to Edwards, James Johns Jr. came in clutch during the championship game and showed why he is getting high major offers as well. Jones Jr. is a mature guard who can just about do it all on the basketball court. Offensively he has the whole package, he can score at all three levels and breakdown his defender with ease. In days following their performance, the pair both received offers from Penn State.
Another standout performer in the 17U orange division was De'Mere Hollingsworth of S.M.M.. Hollingsworth was a scoring machine and scored over 25 in all 3 contests over the weekend. He capped off the weekend with a 31 point performance and helped his team win the silver championship over CBSA Hoyas. Hollingsworth was dynamic and proved why he was the leading scorer in the division at 28.3 PPG.
