It was a busy day on Sunday at the Boo Williams Sportsplex as Big Shots Virginia Fall Hoopfest seized the day with a one-day warmup featuring some of the top prospects from Virginia, North Carolina and West Virginia. 

Kenard Richardson opens with 34 points 

Iona commit Kenard Richardson didn’t waste any time making his presence felt at the one-day Virginia Fall Hoopfest on Sunday. He opened with 34 points in Life Christian Academy’s opening victory over Big Shots Prospect University. He showed off his ability to score on all three levels while draining seven 3-pointers en route to the victory. Ikechi Chantilou, also bound for Iona next year, chipped in with 15 points as well in the win, showing off his ability to attack the paint and play around the rim. 

Boo Williams showcases high-major talent

Boo Williams 17U squad was led by Allen Strothers, Efrem Johnson, Quentin Livingston and Jaylani Darden among others and they didn’t disappoint as they went undefeated on the day at 2-0. Strothers averaged 14.5 ppg across the two contests, putting up 19 against Life Christian Academy in a 73-63 victory. He’s turned a corner as an explosive guard that can attack off the bounce and finish with authority at the rim. Troy, Towson, Robert Morris, App State, Elon, Radford, Hampton, Old Dominion and Norfolk State have offered him.

Johnson led the way in scoring with 19.5 ppg despite being a member of the 2022 class. He had 20 in their opening game and 19 in their second game. He’s an electric wing prospect with tons of athleticism and prowess for shooting the ball. He finished with six made 3-pointers showing off his ability to play on every level. Bryant and Norfolk State have both offered him.

Livingston finished second in scoring with 16.0 ppg. He was another prospect that set the tone on the floor with his ability to defend and make things happen with the ball in his hands. Hampton, Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T and Mount Olive have all offered.

BWSL Team Marsh shines with talent across the board

Team Marsh was another squad that finished 2-0 on the day with victories over Showtime Elite and Team 22. Edward Johnson III, Davian Coleman and Mikhail Pocknett all finished in double-figures scoring while Jaden Daughtry finished with nine points. Johnson knocked down two 3-pointers and finished with 12 points and Coleman finished with 12 points while showing off his ability to be a presence in the paint. Pocknett finished with 11 points. 

Coleman holds offers from Livingstone and Virginia Union. Daughtry holds offers from Livingstone, Virginia Union, NJIT, Marshall, Hampton, Old Dominion, Norfolk State and Bethune-Cookman.

Zach Rosenthall shines for Big Shots Elite West Virginia
Big Shots Elite West Virginia was one of two teams that went 2-0 out of West Virginia, with Panhandle Rise being the other squad. Big Shots Elite was paced by Zach Rosenthall, who finished with seven 3-pointers on the day. He put up five in their opening victory over Tough Buckets and finished with 25 points, showing his ability to shoot from all over the floor. Nicholas Booker also finished with 22 points in the win, showing off his ability to get to the free throw line with nine makes.

Big Shots Select Green Run previews their high school rotation

Big Shots Select Green Run picked up where they left off with Jacob Cooper and Elijah Kennedy leading the way after their run to a share of the 5A State Title. Cooper showed off his ability to get to the free throw line (15 makes) while averaging 21.5 ppg for his squad. Kennedy was right behind him with six made 3-pointers and 16.5 ppg, showing off his ability to attack the paint and the perimeter.

Cooper holds offers from Southern Wesleyan, Chowan, Mount Olive, Virginia Union and West Virginia Wesleyan. Millersville, NJIT, Southern Wesleyan and Mount Olive have offered Kennedy.
