Virginia Rankings: A Look At the Top 10 Prospects to Watch in the 2023 Class

Take a look at some early names to watch in Virginia's talented 2023 class.

#1 Dennis Parker Jr. - 6'7 Guard/Wing - John Marshall

Dennis Parker Jr. hit the ground running at John Marshall High School which culminated in a Virginia 2A State Title. He's a stat-sheet stuffing wing already at 6-foot-7 that's a handful on the hardwood. He put up 14.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 rebounds per game showcasing his skillset out the gate in 2019-20. He's got great ability to know when to get his and when to find teammates for buckets. He holds offers from Wake Forest, Rutgers, Texas A&M and Ole Miss.

#2 Trevor Smith - 5'11 Point Guard - Woodside

Trevor Smith is a young floor general at Woodside that's slowly coming into his own. He's got a high IQ for controlling pace and making plays using his quickness. He anchored some upsets this season of top teams in their area and is due to make waves over the next few seasons. He's the son of Tim Smith, who starred at ETSU back in 2006 as ASUN Player of the Year. He's got the game in his DNA and will a 2023 prospect in VA to track early. He holds offers already from ETSU, Murray State, Old Dominion. Florida and Virginia Tech.

#3 Curtis Blair III - 6'5 Guard/Wing - The Steward School

Curtis Blair III is quite the versatile prospect at the The Steward School. He has the ability to space the floor and spot up for open shots on the perimeter and is an even bigger threat creating off the dribble in space. He's quite the prospect already given his smooth game and holds offers already from Florida, Richmond, Liberty and Virginia Tech.

#4 Carter Lang - 6'8 Forward/Center - STAB

Carter Lang is quite the post threat at 6-foot-8 at St. Anne's Belfield (STAB). He's mobile enough to operate in the pick-and-roll but still not afraid to use his size to attack the rim and finish with authority in the paint. He put up 12.0 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game in 2019-20. He's got a nice shooting stroke in the high post and on the perimeter and has a nice IQ passing the ball. He's one name to keep an eye on in the frontcourt at STAB.

#5 DeShawn Harris-Smith - 6'4 Guard/Wing - Paul VI

DeShawn Harris-Smith is yet another freshman prospect to jump on the scene for Paul VI. He earned a role as an attacking rim-runner for the Panthers as the season progressed in 2019-20. He's got a nice frame already at 6-foot-4 that allows him to operate in traffic and on the fastbreak. Harris-Smith is yet another name to emerge as a name to know under head coach Glenn Farello.

#6 Steven Stinson - 6'5 Wing/Forward - Trinity Episcopal

Steven Stinson is a young prospect that's emerging as quite the versatile threat in the early going at Trinity Episcopal. He's a solid threat on the wing with his ability to knock down the 3-pointer. With his 6-foot-5 frame, he's got the ability to get to the rim and finish in traffic. As he develops in the weight room, he's one to track in the state of Virginia.

#7 John St. Germain - 6'2 Point Guard - STAB

John St. Germain is another prospect on the STAB roster that's turned heads already in the 2023 class of Virginia. He produced 10.4 points, 4.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals per contest in 2019-20. The team came up short in the VISAA State Quarterfinals, but after gaining valuable experience as the team's floor general as a freshman, look for St. Germain to bounce back with a bang in 2020-21.

#8 Jamie Kaiser - 6'4 Wing/Forward - Lake Braddock

Jamie Kaiser is a young name to watch at Lake Braddock alongside 2022 forward David Solomon. Kaiser put up 15.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.7 assists per game in his freshman season for the Bruins. He's a confident player already despite his classification and looks to operate on all three levels with the ball in his hands. Keep an eye on him in the Northern Virginia region.

#9 D'dric Rogers - 6'0 Guard - Tunstall

D'dric Rogers is a young prospect at Tunstall High School He showed quite the consistency in 2019-20 as a freshman, producing 13.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.6 steals per game. Along with freshman Jamison Graves, Rogers is young playmaking guard to watch. As he grows into his body and gets stronger over the next few seasons, he's a prospect with quite the upside tucked away in the Piedmont Region of Virginia.

#10 Brock Vice - 6'8 Forward/Center - Blacksburg

Brock Vice is a forward prospect with tons of versatility already in his wheelhouse. He's got a towering frame already at 6-foot-8 and does well to locate rebounds in space as evidenced by a 24-point, 23-rebound performance this past season against Salem High School. As he learns to use his body to create space for himself and develop his footwork in the post, he'll be a prospect with a chance to be very good.
