Catching Up with GA 2021 PG George Pridgett Jr.

George Pridgett is a 6'2 point guard from Roswell, GA. He is a 2-time First Team All-Region player and a 1000+ point scorer. George is an efficient player on both sides of the ball. He has the ability to blow by defenders with a quick first step and change of speeds on the offensive end but also has quick hands averaging 5 steals per game. The lefty has a smooth floor game and can score from all levels. Pridgett loves to touch the paint and use his float game to score after he breaks his defenders down. He can create his own shot off the bounce and finds his teammates in the half court. George has a little bit of everything in his game, the two-player comparisons we have evaluated are Blake Francis from Richmond and Isaiah Thomas. They both have a similar scoring ability and the shiftiness of their games are elite.

We had a chance to catch up with George Pridgett Jr. and hear more about his recruitment, what he is looking for in a school, and his development as a player.

Question: Which Schools are showing you the interest?

George Pridgett: “Currently App state, Florida Atlantic, James Madison, Wofford, Jacksonville st, north Florida, and Charleston southern have kept in touch.”

Question: How did your high school season end up?

Pridgett: “This past season had a lot of learning moments and thought me a lot. We were a very young and inexperienced team last year with 4 seniors. We bring back pretty much our whole rotation so it should be fun this time around with a year of experience under our belts.”

Question: Were there any highlights or memorable moments throughout the year?

Pridgett: “My favorite memory from this past season was probably our win against Langston Hughes in the tournament of champions. There was a lot of stuff going on with me having the flu and our assistant coach filling in but we buckled down and got it done down the stretch against a very good team.”

Question: What qualities are you looking for in your potential college coach and program?

Pridgett: “I would like to play for a coach that doesn’t take the conservative route all the time. If the coach is willing to take a risk every once and a while then I think that shows trust in his players and his program and that’s a big thing with me.”

Question: How would you describe your game on the court?

Pridgett: “I would describe my game as a crafty left handed guard who can play on or off the ball. Can be a primary or secondary scorer if needed. I try to find my niche on the team and be the best at it. If that means go in and play 5 minutes or 25 minutes, whatever the team needs to win I’m all for it.”

Question: In what areas of your game would you like to improve as you prepare for the next level?

Pridgett: “I would say I need to improve on finishing above the rim, and strength to play at the next level.”

Question: Who is your favorite player to study and why?

Pridgett: “I wouldn’t say I particularly have a favorite player but Damian Lillard is a fun guy to watch and model your game after. The way he changes pace and plays the pick and roll is definitely something I try to pickup on.”

Question: How have you been able to manage the quarantine while continuing to train and get better as a player?

Pridgett: “My workout routine hasn’t really changed too much believe it out not. I’ve been doing CrossFit throughout this whole pandemic and it’s really helped me with my stamina and speed. Every local basketball gym was closed so it was tricky finding some place to get shots up but lucky the facility I do CrossFit at has a hoop so I haven’t really missed out on anything.”

We look forward to keeping up with George and continuing to follow his progression as a very talented player in GA’s 2021 class.
