Catching Up with High Level PG in SC 2021 Jacobi Wright

Jacobi Wright is one of the best point guards in the SC 2021 class. The quick and shifty guard has great ball handling ability and can break defenders down off the bounce. Wright is a smart player and has a great understanding of how to use the combination of his quickness and driving angles to get paint touches. He can score the ball and set his teammates up for easy buckets. Wright has a pure stroke and can also fill it up from three. The Legacy Early College junior currently holds offers from South Carolina, DePaul, Tennessee Tech, Winthrop, Elon, Charleston, Charlotte, and South Florida. On the Big Shots Circuit, Wright has been one of the most elite scoring combo guards we have seen from South Carolina.

We had a chance to catch up with Jacobi Wright and hear more about his recruitment, what he is looking for in a school, and his development as a player.

Question: How has the recruiting process been and which schools are showing you the most interest?

Jacobi Wright: “The recruiting process has been great for me, just taking it all in. South Carolina, Rhode Island, UNC Charlotte and Winthrop have shown the most interest.”

Question: What qualities are you looking for in your potential college coach and program?

Wright: “Qualities that I am looking for are hard coaching, good development, a family environment, somewhere where I can grow as a player and person and a school with my major.”

Question: How would you describe your game on the court?

Wright: “My game is an ultimate playmaker, whether that be passing or shooting. Someone who created plays. I am a winner, team before self guy.”

Question: In what areas of your game would you like to improve as you prepare for the next level?

Wright: “Areas of my game that I would improve are..... to keep improving leadership and getting to the foul line more.”

Question: Who is your favorite player to study and why?

Wright: “Ja Morant and Trae Young, they play my position, Trae Young and I have the same body type so it helps to see how he operates because I need to be able to create plays at the level that he does. Ja Morant has some features that I am trying to add to my game but he is a point guard from SC and has a lot of moves and athleticism that I would like to add to my game.”

Question: How has playing in Big Shots events helped your player development and recruitment?

Wright: “Big Shots events have helped me gain more exposure when playing in them.”

We look forward to keeping up with Jacobi and continuing to follow his progression as a very talented player in SC’s 2021 class.
