Catching Up with SC 2021 SG Chase McDuffie

Chase McDuffie is a top 3-point shooter in the SC 2021 class. McDuffie has great size which helps him on both ends of the floor. In transition, McDuffie has the ability to showcase his athleticism and finish plays above the rim. He is very confident, playing every game to win and help his team. The Gary Collegiate Academy junior currently holds offers from Winthrop, USC Upstate, St. Bonaventure, and Fayetteville State while also gaining heavy interest from several other schools. On the Big Shots Circuit, Chase has been a standout shooter that can make athletic plays. He is most definitely one of the top shooting guards in the loaded South Carolina 2021 class. 

We had a chance to catch up with Chase McDuffie and hear more about his recruitment, what he is looking for in a school, and his development as a player.

Question: How has the recruiting process been and which schools are showing you the most interest?

Chase McDuffie: “The recruitment process has been going well, some schools that are showing big interest would be Coc, George Washington, Clemson, and Georgia State as of right now.”

Question: What qualities are you looking for in your potential college coach and program? 

McDuffie: “Right now it’s all about relationships. I would like to build the best relationship that I can have with my coach.”

Question: How would you describe your game on the court? 

McDuffie: “I would describe my game as more of a scorer right now but I'm also a willing playmaker and rebounder.”

Question: In what areas of your game would you like to improve as you prepare for the next level? 

McDuffie: “I would have to improve my defense a lot more.”

Question: Who is your favorite player to study and why?

McDuffie: “Devin Booker and Bradley Beal are my two favorite players to study. I love the way they play and I can see my game transitioning into there’s one day.”

Question: How has playing in Big Shots events helped your player development and recruitment?

McDuffie: “Big Shots has helped a lot. During my freshman year, I went to a Big Shots camp and won the 3pt contest, and this past year I was MVP of the camp. They have helped get my name out in numerous ways.”
