Catching Up with SC 2021 PG Jalen Breazeale
Jalen Breazeale is a lightning quick pure point guard in the SC 2021 class. He dominates the show and runs the team like a veteran leader. Breazeale has a tight handle and can break defenders down allowing him to get to the basket where he is able to finish with either hand. He has a secure level of poise and confidence in his game. Breazeale is a guy you want on your team and is great at setting guys up for buckets. The Dorman high school junior has a lot of heavy interest coming in and should begin to earn offers soon. Jalen was a breakout performer at the Big Shots SC Top 100 last year.
We had a chance to catch up with Jalen Breazeale and hear more about his recruitment, what he is looking for in a school, and his development as a player.
Question: How has the recruiting process been and which schools are showing you the most interest?
Jalen Breazeale: “The recruiting process has been going pretty well. I’ve been hearing the most from Winthrop, Murray State, Western Carolina, BYU, Toledo, VMI, and the Citadel.”
Question: What qualities are you looking for in your potential college coach and program?
Breazeale: “I’d say I'm looking for a program and coaching staff that’s similar to Dorman. I want to feel at home and someplace where I can play free. I also want to be in a good school environment that will set me up for success after basketball.”
Question: How would you describe your game on the court?
Breazeale: “I would describe my game as well rounded. I play both ends of the floor and I can control the game from different aspects such as scoring, facilitating, and defending and controlling the tempo.”
Question: In what areas of your game would you like to improve as you prepare for the next level?
Breazeale: “Areas I think I could continue to improve in are getting mentally and physically stronger so I can be ready for college basketball as soon as I arrive on campus.”
Question: Who is your favorite player to study and why?
Breazeale: “My favorite player to study is Collin Sexton. I think we have similar playing styles and he’s a two-way player.”
Question: How has playing in Big Shots events helped your player development and recruitment?
Breazeale: “Playing in Big Shots events has helped me a bunch. At a Big Shots camp last year, 10+ coaches were at my first game.”
We look forward to keeping up with Jalen and continuing to follow his progression as a very talented player in SC’s 2021 class.
