Brady O’Connell is a senior at Ravenscroft High School in Raleigh, NC. At the conclusion of the year, O’Connell will head to Old Dominion University to begin his collegiate career for Coach Jeff Jones and staff. Prior to his commitment to the Monarchs, O’Connell was also considering Elon, Samford, and Mercer.

We had a chance to inquire more about Brady O’Connell’s decision, and what he is looking to bring to the program.

Question: What made ODU the school for you?

Brady O’Connell: “Old dominion was the perfect fit for me because they know what my true potential is and I know that there gonna do there all to develop me to get there .. the guys on the team are great and I’ve already started to develop a relationship with them .. the coaches are also amazing too, not only is coach jones one of the top d1 coaches in the country but he also has some amazing assistant coaches to back him up.”

Question: What are you looking to bring to the program?

O'Connell: ”I’m looking to bring my ability to attack and slash the basket and knock down open 3s. I think I will really be able to help them there.”

Question: Do you have any major personal or team goals you want to accomplish while you are at ODU?

O’Connell: “I’m looking to win the conference all 4 years and turn heads in the NCAA tournament.”

Question: What areas of your game are you working on developing?

O’Connell: “I’m always working on developing my game. Player development is very important to me because to reach my goals I know I have too always keep working to better myself. I think right now the most important things I’m working on is continuing to get better at my 3 point shot and my defense”

Question: Who is your favorite player to watch and why?

O’Connell: “My favorite player to watch is Brandon Ingram, the way he uses a minimum amount of moves to attack the basket using his length and speed, his ability to rise up and knock down a jump shot when driving to the cup and his ability to know down open 3s all remind me of myself.”

We wish Brady O’Connell and his family the best of luck and look forward to following his career as a Monarch in the Conference USA.
