Trinity Academy Head Varsity Men’s Basketball Coach, Bryan Burrell sat down to talk with us about his program’s upcoming season. He took the time to give us some insight on his team’s preseason workouts, areas of improvement, and highlighted a few players for College coaches to watch out for. The Tigers will open up their season with a non-conference opponent on November 8 at St. David’s School in Raleigh, NC.

Question: How have preseason workouts and open gyms been going this fall?

Coach Bryan Burrell: “We had a great pre-season, majority of our core is returning so we were able to move a little faster during pre-season and get new guys more repetitions of how we want to play throughout the year. Guys have been really competing and pushing each other to get better, so I’m looking forward to practice officially starting next week.”

Question: In what main areas are you guys looking to improve from last year?

Coach Burrell: “Just continue getting better on the defensive end, I thought our defense kept us in a lot of games last year when the ball might have not been going in the way we wanted it to. Spent a lot of time during pre-season working on the fundamentals of passing and shooting. So the hope is, if our defense is consistent on a nightly basis, that our offense will give us the opportunity to close out games late.”

Question: Who are some of your guys college coaches should be looking to follow this season?

Coach Burrell: “I think this roster has five guys that will have the opportunity to college basketball. We were fortunate to have Jake Bertolini-Felice commit to Gettysburg College recently. I think Noah Ross (2022), Tyler Gill (2021), Zach Perry (2021), and Slyvester White (2020) will all have a chance to compete at the collegiate level. I think we have some younger guys, that will also have the opportunity if they continue to work hard.”

Question: Are there any particular games or tournaments that you guys are looking forward to playing in this season?

Coach Burrell: “I look forward to playing everyone this year, we know what goals we have as a program this year and to accomplish those goals you have to treat each game with the same importance.”

Question: How have you guys managed to build such a strong culture of success at trinity?

Coach Burrell: “We’ve been fortunate to coach some great student-athletes through the years, so in return I think Trinity Academy has become an attractive option if you’re looking for strong academics and the opportunity to get better.”

We wish Coach Burrell and his Trinity Academy team the best this season and look forward to following the Tigers’ success.
