Catching up with New Mexico Commit Nolan Dorsey

Nolan Dorsey is a senior at Millbrook High School in Raleigh, NC. At the conclusion of the year, Dorsey will head to The University of New Mexico to begin his collegiate career for Coach Paul Weir and staff. Prior to his commitment to the Lobos, Dorsey was also considering Niagara, Western Carolina, Stetson, and App State.

Dorsey has really developed into a skilled point guard with great size. The 6’6” guard has a great handle, elite court vision, and some flavor to his game. He has demonstrated his ability to consistently get paint touches and find guys. While he will need to continue to improve his perimeter shooting, his mid-range game is solid. Dorsey will be a great fit for the Lobos next season.

When asking Dorsey what made New Mexico the place for him?

He responded, “I thought New Mexico was the best fit for me. I think that it’s a good place for me to improve my game and take it to another level.”

We then asked Dorsey what he is looking to bring to the program?

“I’m looking to help the team in anyway I can. I want to win games and I hope the way I play can help in that process,” he stated.

Finally, Dorsey told us about his major personal or team goals he wishes to accomplish while at New Mexico?

He told us, “It’s always been a dream of mine to play in the NCAA Tournament. I hope I can turn some heads and give the fans a show. I’ll continue to play with a chip on my shoulder.”

We wish Nolan Dorsey and his family the best of luck and look forward to following his career as a Lobo in the Mountain West.
