Ahmil Flowers is due for a strong senior season as one of two emerging seniors on Grimsley High School's roster. After leading the team in scoring (15.3 ppg) and rebounds (5.7 rpg) in 2018-19, he's ready to do a whole lot more after a strong spring/summer on the AAU circuit. Big Shots caught up with him on Wednesday to get his thoughts on his recruitment and a few other things.
Ahmil Flowers: I just took my visits to each school and liked the campus at High Point. It's a really nice campus for those that don't know. The coaching staff, they just fit my style. I liked Coach Tubby, Coach G.G. Smith, all the coaches there. The team was welcoming and as a recruit, it was a good feeling to be welcome. The growth of High Point, the new facilities, the campus in general, teams on the schedule just made me feel like we have a chance to do something special in the next few years.
AF: You know always get in the gym. Do the things other prospects aren't doing and never settle. A lot of people are switching schools and it's not necessary. You can be a Division I player at any school, anywhere. So, just stick with it and stay hungry. You never know what might happen.
AF: The youth...we have a lot of young talent which translates into a lot of energy. Then, we have a great coach who's going to help us with his history. With his winning, he can bring us a winning mentality and with some of the incoming freshmen, they can be a bonus for us too.
AF: I've mostly been working on my jump shot, but also my ball-handling. Being able to play off screens, split double teams, shooting off-balance, difficult shots. I just want to keep improving on my jump shot, it can get a lot better.
AF: Just the atmosphere, the crowd. You know, it's my final year, I'm ready for the Page game, things like senior night. I'm just ready for the season to start in general.
