On Wednesday afternoon, Big Shots got a chance to catch up with 2020 guard Carson McCorkle, one of the top combo guards in the state of North Carolina. Entering his senior year, the UVA commit has a lot to look forward to. Check out what he had to say below.
Carson McCorkle: I just knew it was the right fit for me. When I visited with the coaching staff and everything like that, I just didn't think I needed to wait anymore so I went ahead and made the decision.
CM: It was a lot of fun. I've been playing with them since seventh grade so I've been with those boys for about five or six years. Then being coached by David West was obviously a great opportunity for me. I learned him from him and him being an NBA champion was awesome, so it was a great experience.
CM: I'd say defensively I've gotten a lot better and that's been progressively over the past three years. I would say ball-handling, shooting off the dribble more, things of that nature have gotten better for me. Then improving my communication on the floor as well.
CM: Just going out and playing really. We've got a really good schedule this year and a lot of good teams we're playing. We're playing in the Chick-Fil-A this year and the Bass Pro Tournament so it'll be a lot of fun and a lot of good memories for my senior year.
The Greensboro Day Bengals kick off the season on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Phenom Hoops Carmel Classic against Christ School. They'll be a team to watch as they look to win their fourth straight NCISAA State Title with McCorkle and company leading the way.
