Javarzia Belton is an intimidating factor in Moravian Prep's frontcourt and much improved after a strong summer.

Calhoun Falls (SC) native Javarzia Belton has really seen his status grow as a dominant big man over the past few seasons. He burst onto the scene for Moravian Prep this past season and has quickly emerged as a dominant paint presence with his ability to score in the post, control the boards and protect the rim. Now, he's starting to draw interest from mid-major and high-major college programs alike. On Friday afternoon, I got a chance to get his thoughts on a few things.

Q: You're starting to put your name on the map as your final season approaches. What keeps you motivated?

Javarzia Belton: I feel like nobody really knows who I am yet so I play with a chip on my shoulder.

Q: What are some things you've been working on in your game?

JB: Just being more fluid with the ball in my hands and improving my footwork.

Q: You've reeled in a mix of offers these past few months. How's your recruitment going?

JB: It's going pretty good and it's picking up a little bit more.

He currently holds offers from Texas A&M, Wake Forest, UMBC, South Carolina State, UNLV, South Carolina State, Wichita State, Elon, Hofstra, Drexel, La Salle, St. Bonaventure, IUPUI and Rhode Island.

Q: Do you plan on releasing a top-5 or a top-7 or a top-10 even?

JB: Yeah, it should be soon although I don't know how many schools I'll trim it to yet.

Q: What are you looking forward to the most this season?

JB: Winning the John Wall Invitational.

While Belton is a man of few words off the court, he certainly stands out once he walks in the gym with his 6-foot-10, 240-pound frame. He's a prospect expected to have a strong season for Moravian Prep in the paint and beyond. He's finishing with more toughness around the rim and defenders are looking to avoid him when driving to the basket. Keep an eye out for him to blow up in 2019-20.
