Things have really picked up on the recruiting trail for Shakeel Moore. I caught up with him to get his thoughts on a few things.

Moravian Prep point guard Shakeel Moore has emerged as an underrated prospect in North Carolina's 2020 class. This past summer, his star rose as he was invited to the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Virginia, and really stood out with his play. Now, he's ready to take his game to the next level by joining the ranks at Moravian Prep.

Q: Why the move from Piedmont Classical, where you won two state titles already, to Moravian Prep?

Shakeel Moore: It was more of a prep thing. I had to get prepared for the next level and I felt Moravian and Coach Low and the staff would prepare me for college better than Piedmont would.

Q: So far, you've set some official visits. Visited Providence already. There's still NC State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Georgia and Ole Miss. Talk a bit about your final list of 7 schools.

SM: That final list is kind of over now, to be honest. Being that Georgetown offered and Vanderbilt's been in touch with me of late, that list of seven doesn't really exist anymore.

Q: What are some of the biggest strengths in your game?

SM: That's kind of tough to say but I would say the biggest strength is my ability to score.

Q: What have you worked on the most in your game this past offseason?

SM: Definitely shooting. Coming off ballscreens more, working on the pick-and-roll. Just becoming a better shooter.

Q: At NBPA Top 100 Camp, you turned a lot of heads. What did you enjoy most from this year’s NBPA Top 100 Camp?

SM: Being able to play in front of hundreds of college coaches. It was a once in a lifetime moment. Not even in AAU do you get to play in front of that many college coaches, but it was almost every coach in America there so that was the highlight of my weekend there.

Moore joins Moravian Prep after averaging 15.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.7 steals per game at Piedmont Classical. He's emerged as a strong threat on both ends with his ability to pressure the basketball and play above the rim. He'll be one to keep an eye on this upcoming season for Moravian, especially as he really challenges himself and develops his game. Stay tuned!
