2020 forward Nick Farrar has seen his recruitment grow in recent months, racking up a number of D1 offers before ultimately deciding on staying in-state and attending NC State as the first commitment in their 2020 recruiting class.

Q: Recruitment blew up for you over the past few months. What ultimately led to your commitment to NC State?

Nick Farrar: I think what ultimately led to NC State after talking to family was like how close it was to home. Playing in the ACC, in my opinion, it's the second-best league you can play in aside from the NBA...playing against Duke, Virginia, all the big-time schools at NC State as well. Me and Coach Keatts had a great relationship as well. We related in so many ways and I felt comfortable being at NC State, especially since its 15 minutes from my house.

Q: There was a ton of rumors and speculation swirling about leaving Apex Friendship but it seems you have a special group here. Talk about the possibilities with your teammates here.

NF: I think my teammates are great here at Apex Friendship. All of them have played on some type of circuit and we've all played with each other. I've played with a lot of things guys well before high school since like we were kids. We all have a good relationship and team chemistry is there and I really felt like this is a special group.

Q: You didn't play on a major circuit (EYBL, Adidas or Under Armour), but still managed to pull a ton of D1 offers. What helped the most playing on BigShots this past summer?

NF: I think playing on the BigShots Circuit, I had a lot of people on my side helping me. Coach Schneider and Coach Mike knew I had great talent and with the connections they have, they had a lot of coaches come out and watch me play. I know a lot of coaches were on the major circuits, so I want to thank coaches for coming out to watch me as well. I would like to thank Kevin and Coach Mike for putting me in front of a lot of coaches as well.

Q: What’s the biggest thing you’re looking forward to this season?

NF: A state championship. I think we can win a state championship, so why not? I think we can go as far as possible. This team we have, we have a solid starting five, good depth, everybody is good, everybody can play. I feel like if we work hard and do what we need to do we can go to the state championship.

Q: What aspect of your game has really developed this past offseason?

NF: I would definitely say improving my right hand. I think my spin to the left is deadly and people are picking up on it now so now changing up and attacking and going right will really change things now. Working on my pullup jumper off the right has come a long way as well.

Nick Farrar and the Apex Friendship Patriots are due to have a very special season given the talent he has around him in 2020s Jayden Beloti and Jeremiah Baker, among others. They'll be a team to keep an eye out for in the state of North Carolina at the 4A level.
